Nottingham Elementary is fortunate to have an established gardens program that is sponsored by the NHE PTA.

NHE Gardens is a thriving environment with a butterfly garden, a vegetable and herb garden, composting bins, and a worm farm.

WHAT IS A GREEN KNIGHT?

A Green Knight is each student at NHE. Every student gets hands-on-experiences year round by helping maintain the Gardens during school hours. The experience is designed to engage children in fun and interactive gardening to promote environmental awareness and stewardship. The Green Knights strive to provide an enriching environment for children to learn about nature, conservation, and sustainable practices.

Green Knights Goals
1. Teach a love and appreciation for the environment in children.
2. Teach children about the importance of conservation and sustainability.
3. Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills
4. Promote outdoor hands-on learning

VOLUNTEER IN THE GARDEN

We will have many opportunities for the NHE community to volunteer in our school gardens and through our environmental projects at NHE this year. Be on the look out on the volunteer page for sign ups.
