Dear Nottingham Elementary Families,

On behalf of the Board of Nottingham Elementary PTA, welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am honored to serve as your PTA President this year. I’m the proud mom of Charlotte Walla, who was lucky to make the Pre-K lottery at NHE and will be in 5th grade this year and Braelyn Walla in 8th grade at Spring Forest Middle School and she started in Kinder at NHE all those years ago. That to say I have been part of the NHE community for a while! I grew up overseas in my adolescent years, so I didn’t really understand or appreciate how important a school PTA could be. But when I became a member of the Nottingham PTA in 2015 and started volunteering, that all changed! My first year was such an eye-opener and every year I learn something new, and I’ve come to realize how valuable PTA’s are! I’m always amazed at how much we collectively achieve as PTA and the sense of community our school fosters. I honestly never imagined that I would serve in this capacity, and I am truly humbled.

The mission of the PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. To do this, our NHE PTA manages a budget of over $150,000 annually which provides a multitude of support avenues and NHE community-building events including:
- Extreme Science dissections
- Family Science Night
- Front office volunteers
- Teacher appreciation week
- Pastries with Parents
- The 2023 Fall Fair
- Annual Fun Run
- Sno Cone Fridays
- Various curriculum and supply needs

And these are just a few of the many initiatives that come to mind! None of these things would be possible without the generosity of our volunteers’ time, financial giving, and overall involvement. Our PTA is essentially an extension of the school, and year after year we have met or exceed our goals to enhance and strengthen our students’ and the staff’s experience to help make Nottingham Elementary the amazing place it is today.
We welcome you and your family and hope you will find an opportunity that works best for you to get involved! Please consider being an active member by joining the PTAvolunteering when you can, attending meetings, and donating to the PTA. Reach out to me directly if you have an interest in serving a position! Ask questions! Share ideas! We are stronger and more effective as we welcome more families to be engaged. Thank you to everyone for your time and commitments to make Nottingham Elementary PTA so successful!

We hope you have a wonderful school year.
