Dear NHE Parents/Guardians, Students, and Community Members,
On behalf of the Nottingham Elementary PTA, I would like to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year! It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your PTA President this year. I am looking forward to continuing the already successful relationship established between the NHE administration and our teachers, staff, and parents.
I grew up in west Houston and attended public schools with their own active, collaborative PTA’s, and then chose this wonderful community to raise my own family with my very patient and supportive husband, Mike. My oldest daughter attends Stratford High School, and I will have 3 students attending NHE this year: my son in 4th grade, and twin daughter and son in kindergarten. I have had the rewarding opportunity to volunteer with the NHE PTA for the past 11 years, as well as for the Spring Forest Middle School and Stratford High School parent and teacher organizations. These invaluable experiences have allowed me to build deep community ties, develop leadership skills, and given me a voice in school policy and decisions.
The mission of the PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for ALL children. At Nottingham, we strive to make this happen with community building, active advocacy and addressing the needs of our students by implementing programs to promote their well-being.
One of my favorite things about Nottingham is the diversity of our student population. NHE students come from varied socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, which enriches their learning environment, fosters inclusivity, and boosts academic achievement. Our PTA works alongside these successes to help ensure that every student is supported in the way they need most.
Of course, the only way we can achieve the utmost support for our students is when we have participation and support from PTA membership! I strongly encourage you to join our dynamic community of hard-working parents and staff, not only to see your student(s) succeed, but because when you join the PTA….
The next way to support the NHE PTA is to volunteer! There is no better way to connect with teachers and other families. When you volunteer your time and unique skills, YOU make a true difference! Our volunteer opportunities range from short, at-home administrative tasks to hands-on school events, leadership roles, and classroom support, fitting any schedule or time commitment. Please reach out to me if you’d like to hear more! We welcome all parents, teachers, grandparents, and community members to join us on the PTA as active volunteers.
A big goal of mine and our entire Executive Board this year is to make all PTA members feel as welcome as possible at Nottingham. We strive to do that through communication, transparency, and collaboration. We’d love to see you at a PTA meeting! And we would especially welcome your feedback, so please feel free to send your suggestions and comments our way! We are dedicated to making meaningful change.
Cheers to another wonderful school year!
