AUCTION 101
Q: What is the purpose of the auction?
A: The NHE Auction is the PTA’s largest fundraising event which is instrumental in supporting our operating budget that provides vital initiatives and services like Special Buddies, field trips, technology, campus improvements, classroom materials, staff salaries, and much more.
Q: When and where does the auction take place?
A: The 2024-25 NHE Auction is Friday, February 21, 2025, from 7 pm – 12 am. The venue has not been revealed yet! Follow NHE on Instagram @nottinghamelementary_pta to make sure you don’t miss the announcement.
Q: What happens at auction?
A: The event is always a special night for NHE parents! Refreshments and heavy apps are served, there's always a great DJ and special experience enhancers tied to the theme. The fundraising portion of the evening features a range of items and experiences donated by parents, local businesses, and community members. Participants bid on these items, and the highest bidder wins. We have a raffle, silent auction, live auction, as well as other fun experiences that raise money toward our auction goal.
Q: What types of items are auctioned off?
A: Auction items vary widely and generally include gift certificates to local restaurants, tickets to sports events, vacation packages, and unique experiences like "Principal for a Day" or "Lunch with a Teacher." We often have categories for kids, moms, dads, families, and home.
Q: How can I participate in the auction?
A: To participate, you can attend the event in person or if you are unable to attend, you can participate online since bidding occurs virtually in the Auctria app. Once your ticket is purchased and we get closer to the event, you and your guest(s) will receive more details about registration, bidding procedures, and any other special instructions.
Q: Do I need to be a parent or a member of the school community to participate?
A: While you do not have to be a parent (or PTA member for that matter), we do ask that all of our guests are either parents or guardians to a current or rising NHE student.
Q: How can I donate items or services to the auction?
A: We would love help making our silent and live auction enticing and exciting! You can donate items or services by contacting large_fundraising@nottinghampta.org
Q: What happens to the money raised from the auction?
A: All funds raised from the auction go directly to support school programs, supplies and more.
Q: Who do I reach out to for more information on anything not found here?
A: For more information, you can reach out to large_fundraising@nottinghampta.org and we will get your question answered!
Q: Why would I want to attend auction?
A: This event is great for fun times and fellowship with your old friends and new friends! Groups often dress up together in theme, ride buses or carpool, gather at a pre-party, and everyone always has a great time. Costumes are not required, but encouraged! Many staff and teachers also attend. The night's motto is "It's for the kids!" Come, enjoy, dance, laugh, and go home with something fun from the silent or live auction.
